Who we are

Duty Bound was founded to manufacture and supply quality fresh and frozen food and commercial items, serving our Armed Forces worldwide.

We are certified by the US Veterans Administration, as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Food Manufacturer.

We do business with Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support (DLA-TS), which fulfils our Armed Forces’ food and other logistical requirements, worldwide

We hold a valid and current Manufacturers Pricing Agreement (MPA) with DLA-TS, and are now in our sixth year supplying both CONUS and OCONUS prime vendors.

We have developed a line of proprietary MealKits, currently in use by our Forces on Okinawa. We are prepared to fill quantity orders for both shelf-stable and frozen MealKits, worldwide, for both military and civilian use.

In addition to the above, we are certified by the US Department of Agriculture as a qualified SDVOSB Food Manufacturer and provider in the meat and frozen egg sectors to its Agricultural Marketing Service Procurement Program.

For prime vendors, we are the ideal, low-cost solution to the requirement for participation in the Socio-Economic Sector in the Small Business Program.

Our Founder

Phil Gioia grew up as an 'Army Brat' on US Army posts in the United States, Japan, and Italy. After graduating from Virginia Military Institute, he was commissioned a Regular Officer in the US Army. Twice wounded in action in Vietnam, he served as an Infantry platoon leader in the 82d Airborne Division during the 1968 TET Offensive, and as an Infantry company commander in the First Air Cavalry Division (Airmobile) in 1969-70.

While in Vietnam, Phil took careful note of the types of rations provided to combat troops, from the forward firebases out to the Infantrymen in the field. That experience inspired him to write "Gourmet Grunts 1968-70", which was published in ‘Armchair General Magazine’, and is reprinted HERE, with permission of the Editors.

Phil donated the jungle boots he wore on both combat tours to the National Museum of the United States Army. Seen HERE, they are now part of the US Army's 'Permanent Collection on the Vietnam War'.

Following his military service, Phil received an MBA from Stanford University. He also holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.

In thirty years of experience in business management, he has served as investor, CEO, or board member of emerging-growth corporations in the technology sector, and is a co-founder of Pathfinder Partners LLC, providing services to the US defense and national security communities.

Phil is also active with organizations providing support to our wounded, returning from combat service overseas.
